Effingham St. Anthony went two sets in downing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in high school volleyball action Monday.

 

The Bulldogs won by identical 25-17 scores.

Leading CHBC were Gracie Heckert with five kills and four points, Zaryah Smith with one ace and Abby Sloan with 10 assists, nine digs and four points.

St. Anthony also claimed the junior varsity win, 25-14, 25-11 and a freshman/sophomore match, 25-7, 25-7.

At Cowden

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis handed Mattoon a loss in three sets Monday.

The Wooden Shoes won the opener 25-14 before Mattoon came back with a 25-20 victory. T-town then took the match 25-21.

Lilly Jansen led the Shoes in digs with eight. Emily Konkel had four blocks. Carly Michels led in kills with nine. Sara Swingler led in assists with 12. Hannah Rodger had nine points.

In the junior varsity match, Mattoon claimed the win, 25-18, 25-19.

T-town won the freshman/sophomore match, 21-12, 13-21, 15-10.

At Teutopolis

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown took the opener 27-25 in varsity action against Altamont, but the Indians came back to tie the match 25-12 then claimed the win 25-12. Altamont improved to 6-0 in the National Trail Conference and 12-2 overall.

Leading in the five categories for Altamont were Ruffner with 11 kills and two blocks, Mette who tallied seven digs, McManaway with 31 assists, and Eckhardt and Pemberton with two aces each.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Laney Baldridge and Morgan Hall with five kills each and five points each, Baldridge also had 14 digs. Lydia Smith led in assists with seven.

Altamont also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-12 to imrpove to 5-1 in the conference and 11-3 overall.

At St. Elmo

At Neoga

Neoga picked up a non-conference win over Oblong Monday.

The Indians opened with a 25-14 victory in the first set. Oblong came back with a 25-17 win. Neoga then claimed the match, 25-15.

Avery Fearday led the winners in digs with 11. Andrea Burcham had 10 assists. Gracie Gresens finished the block leader with 10. Trista Moore and Abbi Dow tallied five kills each.

In the junior varsity match, Neoga also won, 25-13 ,25-17.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg  remained unbeaten in the National Trail Confrrence with a victory over South Central Monday evening.

The Hatchets won 25-15, 30-28 and now sport a 6-0 NTC mark and a 9-2 overall record.

"The girls did such a good job using our middles tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Bri and Halle did a great job at the net."

Brianna Hewing led the squad in kills with seven while Moomaw had six. Hewing and Gabby Vonderheide had two aces each. Hewing had two solo blocks. Hannah Hayes led in assists with 16. Jessica Rauch had 13 digs. 

Windsor/Stew-Stras tallied a win in junior varsity play, 25-18, 16-25, 25-21. The Hatchets are 6-0 in the conference, 11-0 overall.

WSS also claimed the freshman/sophomore match. South Central claimed the opener 25-15 but WSS came back with 25-20, 15-9 wins to improve to 5-2.

At Dieterich

North Clay (Louisville) tallied a National Trail Conference win over Dieterich Monday evening.

The Cardinals took the opener 25-15 before Dieterich knotted the match with a 25-20 win. North Clay then won with a 25-22 count.

Dieterich was led by Gabriella Hardiek with eight kills and three aces Kaitlyn Boerngen with 20 digs, Emily Bloemer had 12 assists. Emily Hall and Iva Lilly had two blocks each.

In the junior varsity match, the Movin' Maroons were the winners with 25-15, 25-18 sets.

At Dieterich

Newton tallied a victory over Red Hill (Bridgeport) Monday evening.

The Eagles won 25-7, 25-15 to improve to 7-5 on the season.

Chapman led Newton in assists with 11 while Einhorn had three aces, Kessler five kills, Ochs one block and B. Johnson and Parr four digs each.

In the junior varsity match, Newton was a winner, 25-15, 25-14.

At Bridgeport

Shelbyville tallied three wins over Tuscola in competition Monday evening.

The Rams claimed the varsity match, 25-16, 25-21 and improved to 12-0 on the season.

Lexi Rohdemann led in points with 12 and digs with 10. Chloe Watson had 13 assists. Kynlee Summers led in kills with seven.

In the junior varsity match, the Rams won the opener 25-11 before Tuscola claimed the second set, 25-14. Shelbyville then won 25-13 and stands at 11-1.

In the freshman/sophomore contest, Shelbyville was a 25-12, 25-18 winner and is 10-0-1.
