Rough Night For Local Volleyball Teams

Effingham High School played host to Mount Zion in Apollo Conference play and fell in two sets, 25-18, 25-9.
The Hearts were led by Samantha Urch and Kennedy Sowell with three kills each, Tori Budde with four assists and Sawyer Althoff, Jacy Boatman and Morgan Hagler with four digs each.
EHS also fell in junior varsity action, 26-24, 25-23.
The Hearts will be back in action Monday hosting Mattoon with a 5:15 p.m. start for the freshman/sophomore match.

At Taylorville
Teutopolis traveled to Taylorville and fell to the host Tornadoes in two sets, 25-23, 25-18.
Leading the Wooden Shoes were Carly Michels with 10 kills, three aces and six points, Julia Probst with three aces and six points, Macy Swingler with eight digs and Hannah Rodgers with nine assists. The Shoes drop to 3-7 on the season and will play host to Lincoln Tuesday.
In junior varsity play, Taylorville was a winner, 21-17, 13-21, 15-8.

Dieterich dropped a varsity contest to Ramsey in non-conference action Thursday.
Ramsey was a winner 25-23 and 25-16.
Leading the Movin' Maroons were Gabriella Hardiek with three kills and two blocks, Kaitlyn Boerngen with eight digs and Emily Bloemer with six assists.
Dieterich claimed the junior varsity contest, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19.

North Clay (Louisville) picked up a non-conference victory over Wayne City Thursday.
North Clay was a winner 27-25, 25-20.
In junior varsity action, North Clay won, 25-18, 25-19.
At Shelbyville
Shelbyville claimed a victory over Clinton Thursday, 25-13, 25-5.
The Rams were led by Chloe Watson with 15 points and 17 assists, Mal Holland with two aces, Dru Clark with six kills and Lexi Rohdemann with 24 digs.
"Tonight's match was one where I could get a few more players some playing time," said Shelbyville Coach Jamie Watson ."We played aggressive for all 50 points and that was great to see and it shows them that we can do it. Lexi had an awesome game tonight with 24 digs."
