Altamont, WSS, South Central Nab Volleyball Wins

ALTAMONT -- Altamont High School picked up victories in both junior varsity and varsity volleyball competition Wednesday.
The Indians won the varsity match, 25-13, 25-16 over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. Altamont is now 1-0 in the National Trail Conference, 2-0 overall.
Mette led in kills for Altamont with nine and had six digs. Runge led in aces with two. Eckhardt and Pemberton had six digs each. McManaway led in assists with 22.
In the junior varsity contest, Altamont was a winner, 25-12, 25-10 and is also 1-0 in the conference, 2-0 overall.

At Strasburg
Windsor'Stewardson-Strasburg started the season strong with a 25-11, 25-21 non-conference win over Tuscola Wednesday.
"I really didn't know what to expect tonight with missing some to basketball," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "I was relieved we had a strong start. We have a very well-rounded team with our upper classmen and three strong freshmen. They work really well together.
"We've hit target serving and serve receive hard the last couple weeks so we set a nice base to build off of."
Lexi Domzalski led the Hatchets in aces with two and assists with 10. Hannah Hayes also had 10 assists. Ella Kinkelaar led in kills with seven. Anna Schlechte had 18 digs.
In the junior varsity match, Windsor/Stew-Stras won, 25-14, 25-13.
The freshman/sophomore match also went to the Hatchets, 25-13, 25-17.

With two sets, South Central claimed a season-opening victory over Patoka Thursday.
The Cougars won 25-14, 25-16.
They also claimed the junior varsity match, 16-25, 25-15, 25-10 and a freshman/sophomore contest, 25-5, 25-11.
At Martinsville
Deterich dropped a match to Martinsville in Tuesday action.
The Movni' Maroons fell to the Bluestreaks, 26-24, 25-21 in varsity play. Dieterich was led by Gabriella Hardiek with five kills, Allie Poe with six aces and eight digs; Emily Bloemer with eight digs and Iva Lilly with four blocks.
Dieterich won the junior varsity opener 27-25 but Martinsville nabbed the next two, 25-18, 25-18 for the match.
