EHS, Altamont, CHBC Claim High School Volleyball Wins

TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham High School opened the high school volleyball season with a victory over host Teutopolis Tuesday.

The Hearts won, 25-21, 28-26.

T-town was led by Carly Michels with seven kills, two aces and 10 points, Emily Konkel with three blocks, Tia Probst with seven assists and Julia Probst with 10 digs. Hannah Rodgers had two aces.

In the junior varsity contest, T-town was the winner, 25-23, 25-14.

At Altamont

Altamont picked up both varsity and junior varsity victories over Central A&M Tuesday.

The Indians claimed the varsity match, 25-13, 25-13. Leading Altamont were McManaway with four aces and 22 assists, Eckhardt with nine digs and Pemberton with eight kills.

In the junior varsity match, Altamont picked up a 25-21, 25-21 win.

Dieterich fell to host Martinsville in both varsity and junior varsity play Tuesday.

Martinsville captured the varsity match, 26-24, 25-21. Dieterich was led by Gabriella Hardiek with five kills, Allison Schmidt and Emily Bloemer with three assists each, Bloemer and Allie Poe with eight digs each and Iva Lilly with four blocks.

Martinsvile was a winner in junior varsity action, 25-27, 25-18 and 25-8.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Neoga a varsity loss in volleyball competition Tuesday.

CHBC won the varsity match, 25-19, 25-20. Zaryah Smith and Gracie Heckert had four kills each for the winners. Abby Sloan had 10 assists, Carsen Burks three blocks, Jacque Witteborg 10 digs and Smith six points.

In the junior varsity contest, Neoga was a winner, 25-16, 25-14 and the Indians claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-22, 25-22.

At Cowden

Vandalia came calling and claimed a varsity win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday.

The Vandals won 25-14, 25-11.

Leading SEB were Laney Baldridge with nine digs, Morgan Hall with two kills, two blocked shots and four points, Lillian Nolan with two kills and Anna Stine with two kills.

Robinson downed Newton in volleyball competition Tuesday, 25-17, 25-15.

Leading Newton were B. Johnson with seven kills and eight digs, and Russell with 11 assists.

In junior varsity action, Newton claimed a 25-23, 25-19 victory.
