Effingham Sacred Heart and Altamont both picked up a win each in junior high volleyball competition Tuesday.

Sacred Heart claimed the seventh-grade match, 25-20, 25-21. Altamont dropped to 5-9 on the season.

Altamont was led by Hollinshead with five kills and Rippetoe with five aces and three assists.

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont was a 25-17, 25-16 winner to improve to 10-4 on the season.

Lemke, Reardon and Moore had five kills each for Altamont. Moore and Klein had six aces each. Reardon led in digs with nine. Splechtor had 19 assists.

Jasper County tallied victories over Martinsville in Tuesday action.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade match, 25-15, 25-21 to improve to 9-1 on the season.

K. Holder led in aces with three, kills with four and assists with two. I. Meinhart had four kills and two assists. Zoey Michel had two assists.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County won 25-7, 25-16 and now is a perfect 10-0.

A. Mulvey had 15 aces. B. Fritchl led in kills with four and A. Mulvey led in assists with seven.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split junior high volleyball matches Tuesday against Dieterich.

Dieterich claimed the seventh-grade match. CHBC won the opening set 25-9 but Dieterich came back to take the second set 25-10 and then the match with a 28-26 count.

Brynlie Pope led CHBC with 23 points and 13 aces. Keaira Arnold had two digs.

"Our first game was quick and Brinley Pope scored 17 points in a row," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "The second game, Dieterich came back to show that they could play up too. Both teams were on in the third game and it came down to the team that made fewer mistakes."

In the eighth-grade contest, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner, 25-17, 25-15.

Kyleigh Linder had 11 points, two aces, two assists, four kills, two blocks and six digs for CHBC.

"The girls were pumped for eighth-grade night and it showed," said Jefferies. "They played the best volleyball we have seen all year. Their communication was great. We had four girls serve at 100% and they worked together on the court."
