Effingham won the championship of its own regional Tuesday.

Effingham captured the championship of its own Class 8-4A Volleyball Regional Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won over Mattoon, 25-20, 25-13 for the title and will now advance to the Taylorville Sectional Monday.

Effingham is now 17-7 on the season and will face either Champaign Edison or Urbana at 6:30 p.m. Those two teams play tonight for the championship of the Urbana Regional.

Class 8-4A Effingham Regional

Effingham -- Ballman, 1 ace, 11 digs; Boone, 3 kills, 11 assists, 1 ace, 6 digs; Katt, 4 kills, 1 assist, 3 digs; Holste, 1 kill, 1 dig; Borton, 2 kills, 1 assist, 2 aces, 5 digs; O'Dell, 4 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs; McCoy, 5 kills, 1 assist, 4 aces, 2 digs

 

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown

Effingham St. Anthony advanced to the championship of the Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional Tuesday.

The Bullpups claimed a 25-17, 25-13 victory over host St. Elmo/Brownstown.

In the second match, Findlay Okaw Valley downed Neoga, 25-18, 25-20.

St. Anthony and Findlay Okaw Valley meet Thursday for the regional championship at 6 p.m.

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

St. Anthony -- Coffin, 1 kill, 2 aces, 9 assists, 2 points; Rudolphi, 6 kills, 4 aces, 9 points; Passalacqua, 1 kill; M. Kibler, 2 kills, 3 aces, 4 points; Niebrugge, 1 kill, 2 aces, 3 assists, 4 points; S. Kibler, 3 kills, 2 aces, 6 points; Niemeyer, 2 kills, 2 aces, 9 points

 

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis claimed a victory in three sets to move to the championship of its own Class 8-3A Regional Tuesday.

In the opener, Shelbyville Moulton won over Cumberland, 25-8, 25-11.

T-town then took the second match over Macon Meridian. The Wooden Shoes fell in the opener, 25-22. T-town then toughened up and took the next two sets, 25-22, 25-19 for the victory.

T-town is now 15-10 on the season. The Shoes will square off against Shelbyivlle Moulton at 6 p.m. Thursday for the title.

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis -- Wall, 2 aces; Niemerg, 2 aces, 2 assists, 5 kills; Einhorn, 2 kills; Pals, 7 aces, 5 kills; Probst, 2 aces, 6 assists, 1 block; Frey, 4 aces, 3 kills; Zerrusen, 2 kills, 2 blocks

 

Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael picked up the championship of its own regional Tuesday.

The Sharpshooters won in two sets, 25-20, 25-14 over West Salem.

St. Michael advances to the Decatur Lutheran Sectional Monday against either Decatur Holy Family or Decatur Lutheran. Those two teams play tonight for the championship of the Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes Regional.

 

Class 8-1A Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes Regional

In Tuesday evening's semifinals, Decatur Holy Family downed Bement, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18 and Decatur Lutheran won over Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes, 25-21, 25-16.

Decatur Holy Family and Decatur Lutheran will meet tonight for the regional championship.

 

At Clay City

Clay City improved to 12-0 in the WEAA Conference and 15-1 overall with a win over Allendale Tuesday.

Allendale won the opening set of the seventh-grade match, 25-20 but Clay City came back for the win, 25-9, 15-6.

In eighth-grade play, Clay City was a winner, 25-9, 25-3.

Clay City also nabbed the C contest, 25-22, 26-24.
