SIGEL -- Stewardson-Strasburg claimed the championship of the Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Volleyball Regional Thursday.

Stew-Stras downed Newton St. Thomas. It was quite a battle as Stew-Stras claimed the opening set 30-28. The second set went to St. Thomas 27-25. The match then went to Stew-Stras 25-20.

Stew-Stras advances to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Monday where the squad will take on the winner of the Decatur Lutheran Regional at 6:30 p.m.

Decatur Lutheran won its own regional Thursday evening by beating Decatur Garfield, 25-11, 25-22. In the first two matches of the evening, Decatur Lutheran downed Windsor, 25-17, 25-19 and Decatur Garfield Montessori beat Decatur Holy Family, 23-25, 25-8, 25-14.

 

Class 7-2A Edwards County (Albion) Regional

Edwards County claimed its own regional championship with a victory over North Clay (Louisville) Thursday.

Edwards County won in two sets, 25-10, 25-8.

Edwards County advances to the Okaw Valley Sectional Monday to meet Altamont at 6:30 p.m. Altamont had beaten Findlay Okaw Valley to win the Effingham St. Anthony Regional Wednesday.

 

Class 7-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Casey-Westfield picked up the win in the championship match of the Paris Mayo Regional Thursday.

Casey-Westfield defeated Jasper County. Jasper County claimed the opening set 25-14 but Casey-Westfield came back with 25-19, 25-17 counts for the regional title.

Casey-Westfield advances to its own sectional Monday and will face Macon Meridian at 6:30 p.m.

Class 7-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Jasper County -- Mulvey, 10 aces, 9 assists, 1 dig; K. Martin, 3 aces, 1 kill, 8 digs; Mahaffey, 6 aces, 1 kill, 5 assists; Stanley, 3 aces, 2 kills, 2 blocks, 7 digs; Frichtl, 1 ace, 8 kills, 3 digs; O'Dell, 2 kills, 2 digs; C. Martin, 1 kill, 4 digs
