WINDSOR -- Effingham St. Anthony captured two victories over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in junior high volleyball action Monday.

The Bullpups claimed the seventh-grade match, 25-14, 25-20.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony was a winner, 25-10, 25-13.

At Windsor

Seventh-Grade Match

St. Anthony -- Faber, 3 kills, 1 ace, 3 points; Nuxoll, 3 kills, 2 points; Kabbes, 1 ace, 5 points; Scheidemantel, 3 aces, 16 points; Miller, 1 ace, 2 points; Niebrugge, 1 kill; Nuxoll, 1 ace, 3 points

Eighth-Grade Match

At Newton

Effingham was a winner in both matches played Monday over Jasper County.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match. EJHS took the opening set, 25-23 but Jasper County claimed the second set, 25-17. The Mustangs then won 25-12 to improve to 12-1.

In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham mproved to 8-5 with 25-19, 25-19 wins.

At Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart fell to Altamont in a seventh-grade match Monday. Altamont was a winner in two sets, 25-16, 25-13.

The Shamrocks won the eighth-grade match, 25-14, 25-8.

In a fifth-sixth grade contest, Sacred Heart won the opener, 25-18 and Altamont claimed the second set, 25-15.

At Effingham

Effingham picked up two victories over Jasper County Monday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match but it went three sets. EJHS claimed the opener 25-23 but Jasper County took the second set 25-17. The Mustangs nabbed the final set 25-12 for the match. Jasper County suffered its first loss to drop to 9-1.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham won 25-19, 25-19.

At Dieterich

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City swept victories over Dieterich in Monday evening competition.

CHBC claimed the seventh-grade match but had to go three sets. CHBC won the opener 25-17 before Dieterich captured the second set 25-20. CHBC then won the match 25-18.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC again won the opener 25-16 but Dieterich took the second set 25-21. CHBC then won 25-21.

In sixth-grade action, CHBC was a 25-12 winner.

At Louisville

Clay City and North Clay (Louisville) split victories Monday.

North Clay claimed the seventh-grade match. The winners took the opener 25-14 but Clay City came back with a 27-25 win. North Clay then took the match 15-3.

In eighth-grade action, Clay City was a winner 25-16, 25-23 and improved to 4-0 on the season.

In a C contest, Clay City picked up the victory, 26-24, 25-23.
