WSS, Altamont, S. Central, C'land Move Into Title Matches

The Hatchets were giant-killers bringing down top-seeded Broadlands Heritage. WSS, seeded seventh, won easily in the opener 25-12 then came back to hold off Broadlands, 25-23.
"The girls played really well tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "I felt like they were focused and worked really well together."
Jessica Rauch led the squad in aces with three while Hannah Hayes had 20 assists. Mackinzee Reynolds and Karlie Bean were the kill specialists with nine and seven respectively. Anna Schlechte led in digs with seven while Hayes and Reynolds had six each. Reynolds had a solo block and a block assist.
In the second match, Moweaqua Central A&M, seeded fifth, won over No. 4 Cerro Gordo, 26-24, 25-17.
WSS, now 23-14 on the season, will face Moweaqua Central A&M tonight at 6 for the regional championship.
Class 1A Cerro Gordo Regional

Class 1A South Central Regional
Two National Trail Conference teams will square off for the championship of this regional.
Top-seeded Altamont claimed a victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown, seeded ninth, in two sets, 25-14, 25-3.
In the second match, South Central, seeded fourth, defeated 11th-seeded Clay City, 25-14, 25-19.
Altamont and South Central meet tonight at 6 for the championship.
Class 1A Casey-Westfield Regional
Number two seeded Cumberland picked up a victory over No. 7 Martinsville in action Wednesday.
The Pirates won 25-21, 25-10.
In the second match, Hutsonville/Palestine won over Casey-Westfield. The fifth-seeded squad lost the opener 25-23 but came back to take the next two sets, 25-17, 28-26.
Cumberland faces Hutsonville/Palestine at 6 p.m. today.
Class 3A Charleston Regional
Effingham High School will be playing for this regional championship tonight.
The Hearts, seeded fifth, will face top-seeded Charleston at 6 p.m.
