T-town, SEB, WSS Win Regional Volleyball Openers

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School picked up an opening round victory in its own Class 2A Volleyball Regional Monday.
The Wooden Shoes defeated Sullivan in two sets, 25-13, 25-11.
Kelsey Deters led the Shoes in digs with nine and assists with 20. Erica Michels had five aces and 12 points. Carly Michels led in kills with 11. Emily Konkel had one block.
In the second match, Vandalia downed Salem, 25-19, 25-20.
No. six seed Teutopolis takes a 19-17 record into tonight's match against No. 2 Paris at 5:30 p.m. Vandalia, seeded fifth, will now face No. three seeded Pana at 6:30 p.m. The winners square off for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

Class 1A Cerro Gordo Regional
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg easily got past Decatur Lutheran in the opening match of the Cerro Gordo Regional Monday.
The Hatchets won 25-16, 25-17 and improve to 22-14 on the season.
"One game at a time," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "The girls played well tonight. Practice tomorrow to fine tune a few things before going back on Wednesday."
Hannah Hayes led the Hatchets in assists with 12 while Mackinzee Reynolds led in kills with eight, digs with nine and had one solo block and one block assist. Jessica Rauch had one ace. Claire Moomaw had one block and three block assists.
The regional continues tonight with Cerro Gordo against Macon Meridian at 5:30 followed by Moweaqua Central A&M against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 6:30.
Windsor/Stew-Stras faces top-seeded Broadlands Heritage at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

St. Elmo/Brownstown, seeded ninth, upset eighth-seeded Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.
CHBC won the opener 25-15 but SEB rallied and came back with a 25-10 second set and won the match 27-25.
SEB now advances to face top-seeded Altamont at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Tonight's matches feature South Central against Ramsey at 5:30 followed by North Clay (Louisville) taking on Clay City at 6:30.

Class 1A Casey-Westfield Regional
Martinsville, seeded seventh, downed 10th seeded Dieterich in the Casey-Westfield Regional opener Monday.
The Bluestreaks won 25-16, 25-22.
Leading Dieterich were Gabi Hardiek with nine kills, three assists and 10 digs, Emily Bloemer with eight assists and eight digs, Molly Niemerg with 10 digs and Taylor Curry and Iva Lilly with one block each.
Martinsville advances to face No. 2 Cumberland at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Tonight's matches include Oblong against Casey-Westfield at 5:30 followed by Hutsonville/Palestine against Effingham St. Anthony at 6:30.

Class 1A Kansas Regional
Neoga saw its season come to an end in the Kansas Regional Monday.
Neoga, seeded 13, lost to sixth-seeded Chrisman, 25-22, 25-17.
In the opening match, number eight Villa Grove won over No. 12 Arcola, 25-21, 25-15.
Villa Grove advances to face No. 2 Bethany Okaw Valley at 5:30 p.m. today followed by No. 3 Kansas Co-op against Chrisman at 6:30.
Class 2A Robinson Regional
Marshall and Robinson came out winners in opening round play Monday.
Marshall, seeded eighth, downed ninth-seeded Flora, 25-18, 25-22.
Robinson, seeded seventh, won over No. 12 Lawrenceville, 17-25, 25-22, 25-20.
Tonight's contests feature top-seeded Newton against Marshall at 5:30 followed by No. 4 Shelbyville taking on Robinson at 6:30.
