Altamont Second at Pawnee, WSS Nabs Third at Mount Pulaski

Altamont downed Madison, 25-9, 25-14 then fell to Taylorville, 25-19, 25-19. The Indians won over Pawnee 25-13, 25-12 and Petersburg PORTA 25-21, 25-11.
In the championship match, Altamont fell again to Taylorville. This time, the Indians won the first set 25-17 but lost in the second set 25-20. Taylorville then tallied a 15-5 win for the match.

At Mount Pulaski
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School claimed third place at the Mount Pulaski Volleyball Tournament during the weekend.
In pool play, the Hatchets won all three games, going three sets in each match. In match one, WSS defeated Edwards County (Albion), 25-22, 18-25, 15-11. The Hatchets then downed Mount Pulaski, 25-16, 14-25, 15-9. WSS lost the opener against Shelbyville 25-13 but came back to take the next two sets for the match, 25-20, 15-8.
In crossover play, Mount Zion was the winner, 25-18, 25-12.
That dropped Windsor/Stew-Stras into the third place match and the squad won in its fourth three-set contest, 25-23, 20-25, 15-13.
"I'm very proud of the girls for taking third place today," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "They fought hard in four three-set matches and found a way to win. Hopefully this will provide some confidence as we begin regional play Monday."
WIndsor/Stew-Stras stands at 21-14 on the season.
