EHS Picks Up Victory, Volleyball Roundup

Effingham High School picked up an Apollo Conference volleyball victory over Lincoln Thursday.
The Hearts won in two sets, 25-14, 25-20. Sam Urch led in kills with seven while Hayley Dively had 13 assists and four aces and Alexis Chrappa led in digs with eight.
Lincoln claimed the junior varsity contest, 19-25, 25-19, 17-15. The Hearts nabbed the freshman match, 21-15, 21-12.

At Cisne
Cisne claimed the opening set over Effingham St. Anthony, 25-22. But the Bulldogs rallied for a 25-15 second set victory. However, the Lions hung on for a 27-25 final set and the match win Thursday.
Lucy Fearday led the Bulldogs with 15 kills. Elizabeth Kabbes had three aces and nine points. Taylor Quandt had nine points. Kyra Swearingen led in assists with 25.
Cisne also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-18, 19-25, 15-13.

At Marshall
Newton High School continued its winning ways by taking a victory over Marshall. The Eagles won 25-20, 25-10 to improve to 18-3 on the season.
The Eagles were led by Geltz with three aces, Jansen and Probst with six kills each, Hemrich with 15 assists, Kuhl with four blocks and Probst with six digs.
Newton is back in action Saturday at the Pana Tournament.

At Mulberry Grove
St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up a victory over Mulberry Grove in Thursday competition.
SEB won the opener 25-19 but Mulberry Grove came back with the second set victory, 25-14. SEB then won the match, 25-21.
The Eagles were led by Vayda Smith with 11 kills, 21 digs and 13 points. Makenzie Walk led in aces with three. Emma Gathe finished with 10 points. Kalea Yagow contributed 16 digs while Katelyn Maxey had 13.
At Mulbery Grove

At Ramsey
Ramsey tallied a victory over Diteerich in competition Thursday.
Ramsey won the opener 26-24. Dieterich came back with a 26-24 count before Ramsey won the match, 25-23.
Gabi Hardiek led Dieterich in kills with 17 and points with 13. Emily Bloemer had 17 assists and four aces. Iva Lilly had two blocked shots.
Ramsey also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14.

South Central came calling and picked up two sets to claim the match Thursday, 25-21, 25-21.
Leading Neoga were Haley Stodden with 17 digs, Olivia Titus with six kills and an ace and Ella Shuler with eight assists and an ace.
The Cougars also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9.
