Altamont Claims Sixth In Riverton Classic

Altamont High School finished sixth out of 16 teams at the Riverton Volleyball Classic during the weekend.

Altamont won its opener over Auburn, 25-14, 25-20 then fell to Rochester, 25-18, 25-12. The Indians downed West Central, 25-19, 25-16 and rallied to win over Lincoln, 23-25, 25-22, 15-14. Mount Zion then downed Altamont, 25-16, 25-14.

Jackman led in kills with 30 for the tournament and digs with 19. Pemberton led in kills with 20. Eckhardt had nine aces. McManaway had three blocks and 77 assists.

The Indians are 17-2 on the season.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) captured a National Trail Conference victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown Friday.

North Clay won the opening set, 25-21 but SEB came back to take the second set, 25-18. North Clay then won 25-17.

Leading SEB were Vayda Smith with six kills and seven points, Katelyn Maxey with three aces and 17 digs. Emma Gathe, Cassidy Moss and Natalie Oberlink had one block each.

At Louisville

St. Elmo/Brownstown -- Baldridge, 4 digs; Gathe, 2 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs, 1 blocked shot, 3 points; Hall, 1 kill, 1 point; Maxey, 1 kill, 3 aces, 17 digs, 4 points; Moss, 3 kills, 2 digs, 1 blocked shot, 3 points; Oberlink, 4 kills, 1 ace, 8 digs, 1 blocked shot, 5 points; V. Smith, 6 kills, 1 ace, 6 digs, 7 points; Strauch, 1 kill, 1 dig, 1 point; Yagow, 1 kill, 1 ace, 5 digs, 2 points

 

At St. Anthony

Effingham claimed the championship of the Effingham St. Anthony Freshman/Sophomore Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

In opening matches, Newton downed St. Anthony, 25-22, 25-13 while Teutopolis won over Newton, 25-18, 25-18. Teutopolis then downed St. Anthony, 25-9, 25-15 in pool play. In the other pool, Effingham won over Dieterich, 25-13, 25-23 while Greenville downed  Dieterich, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12. Effingham finished out with a 25-18, 25-13 victory over Greenville.

In the playoff bracket, Greenville downed St. Anthony, 25-23, 25-23 and Newton won over Dieterich, 25-23, 25-21. T-town then beat Greenville, 25-8, 25-12 and Effingham won over Newton, 25-19, 25-17.

In the title match, Effingham claimed a 25-18, 25-22 win over Teutopolis for the championship.
