North Clay, S. Central, Newton, C'land Are Volleyball Winners

TEUTOPOLIS -- North Clay (Louisville) pulled out a three-set high school volleyball victory over Teutopolis Monday.
The Cardinals won the opener 25-14 before T-town came back with the second set, 25-20. North Clay then won the match, 25-23.
Leading T-town were Holly Heuerman and Ciara Repking with seven digs each. Emily Konkel had five blocks. Repking led in kills with 10. Erica Michels had 10 points. Hannah Rodgers led in assists with 10.
T-town claimed the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-15 and the freshman contest, 29-27, 25-15.

At Farina
South Central tallied a National Trail Conference win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.
The Cougars won the opener 25-15 but CHBC fought back to take the second set, 25-23. South Central then had to play tough for a 27-25 win and the match.
CHBC was led by Lauren Wojcik with five kills and two blocks, Kirsten Schick with two blocks, Carsen Burks with three aces and Paeton Underwood with four assists. CHBC drops to 7-9-1 on the season.
South Central also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 25-18, 25-17.

Newton improved to 14-3 on the season with a 25-18, 25-6 win over Salem in action Monday.
Hemrich led the way for the Eagles with 11 assists and three aces. Probst had six kills. Kuhl led in blocks with two. Geltz had 13 digs.
Newton also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-16 and a freshman contest, 25-18, 28-26.

Shelbvyille picked up a non-conference victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday.
The Rams won 25-14, 25-16. WSS drops to 7-7 overall.
"Team work was not there tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "The bright side is that Karlie Bean saw the floor tonight after a possible fracture. We still need to get comfortable with our responsibilities."
Bean and Brianna Hewing had three kills each for WSS. Hannah Hayes led in assists with six and digs with 11.
Shelbyville also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-21, 25-14. WSS drops to 8-4. The Rams claimed the freshman/sophomore match, 25-18, 25-18. WSS drops to 4-10.

Cumberland came to town and picked up victories over Dieterich Monday evening.
The Pirates took the varsity match in three sets. Cumberland won the opener 25-6 before Dieterich came back with a 25-21 second set. The Pirates won the match, 25-17.
Dieterich was led by Gabby Hardiek with 10 kills and three aces, Emily Bloemer with 10 assists and three aces, Kaitlyn Boerngen with six digs and Taylor Curry with two blocks.
Cumberland won the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-17.
