Plainfield North Wins Crossroads Classic Volleyball Title

Plainfield North claimed the championship of the Crossroads Classic Volleyball Tournament during the weekend.
Plainfield North defeated Belleville Althoff for the title, 25-23, 25-22 in the Gold Flight.
In the Silver Flight, Wheaton St. Francis won by downing Bowling Green Greenwood, 24-26, 25-22, 15-11.
Teutopolis captured the championship of the Bronze Flight .
The Wooden Shoes defeated Libertyville for the Bronze Flight title, 25-19, 25-17. In the fifth place match, Effingham was a winner over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 25-21, 25-19.
Named to the All-Tournament Team were Mekenzie Smith of Plainfield North who captured Most Valuable Player honors, Grace Winkekmann (Hermann), Anna Calcagno (Wheaton St. Francis), Katie Howard (Bowling Green Greenwood), Jessie Timmerman (Breese Mater Dei), Kayla Closset (Naperville Central), Mira Chopra (Champaign Central), Maddie Isringhausen (Edwardsville), Storm Suhre (Edwardsville), Katie Wemhoener (Belleville Althoff), Karinna Gall (Belleville Althoff), Anna Gawron (Plainfield North) and Ella Wrobel (Plainfield North).

North Clay (Louisville) defeated Neoga in National Trail Conference play Friday.
The Cardinals won, 25-21, 25-18.
In junior varsity play, North Clay also nabbed the victory, 25-17, 27-25.

St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Ramsey, 25-21, 28-26 in Friday action.
Natalie Oberlink had seven kills for the winners and nine points. Vayda Smith had four aces and led in digs with 17. She also had nine points.

The Wooden Shoes won the Robinson Junior Varsity Tournament.
Teutopolis competed in the Robinson Junior Varsity Tournament during the weekend.
The freshman/sophomore Wooden Shoes went 4-0 on the day, winning the tournament for the first time.
"We finished second three years in a row with mostly freshmen competing against the other schools junior varsity teams," said Coach Susan Mills.
