EHS Sweeps Bulldogs, Area Volleyball Roundup

Effingham High School swept Effingham St. Anthony during the Pink Out Night volleyball match Tuesday at the Enlow Center.

The Hearts won the varsity match, 25-22, 25-15 after picking up the junior varsity contest, 25-18, 26-24 and the freshman contest 25-18, 25-22.

EHS was led by Alexis Chrappa with seven kills and eight digs, Hayley Dively with 16 assists, Jacy Boatman with 11 digs and Chrappa and Kennedy Sowell with a block each.

St. Anthony was led by Elizabeth Kabbes and Taylor Ritz with three kills each, Kate Hartke with an ace and Kyra Swearingen with 10 assists and six points.

At Marshall

Teutopolis tallied a victory over Marshall in action Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won 25-21, 25-16. Erica Michaels had 10 kills while Carly Michaels had five aces. Ciara Repking led in digs with five. Kelsey Deters had 15 assists.

T-town also claimed the junior varsity match, 11-25, 25-20, 15-2 but fell in freshman action, 21-25, 25-7, 15-11.

At Dieterich

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg moved its record to 1-0 in the National Trail Conference and 2-0 overall by downing Dieterich, 25-14, 25-16.

"The girls worked hard to clean up the missed serves and attacking errors from Thursday's game," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Everyone contributed to the stats tonight which made for a pretty solid game. Still, look to see much improvement in this team."

Lexi Domzalski led the winners in digs with nine. Hannah Hayes had 10 assists. Mackinzee Reynolds and Claire Moomaw had six kills each. Brianna Hewing led in aces with three.

Dieterich was led by Gabby Hardiek with six kills, Emily Bloemer with seven assists, Molly Niemerg with five aces and Allie Poe with five digs.

WSS also claimed the junior varsity contest, 25-23, 25-11 and is 1-0 in the NTC, 2-0 overall.

St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up a victory over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Tuesday, 25-22, 25-18.

Natalie Oberlink led the winners in kills with five and had a blocked shot and six points. Vayda Smith led the way in aces with five and digs with eight. She finished with seven points.

Newton picked up its first victory of the season by downing Hutsonville/Palestine, 25-21, 25-8. The Eagles move to 1-1.

Probst led the way with four aces and six kills. Jansen had six kills while Hemrich led in assists with 20. Kuhl, Ochs and Hemrich had one block each. Geltz led in digs with seven.

The Eagles also won the junior varsity match, 25-14, 25-10 and a freshman contest, 25-15, 24-26, 15-10.

Neoga picked up a non-conference victory over Arcola Tuesday, 25-20, 25-22.

The Indians were led by Olivia Titus with three kills and four aces, Elizabeth Titus with seven assists, Jaclyn Atwell with two blocks and Haley Stodden with 10 digs.

Neoga also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 25-12, 25-13.

Clay City faced Grayville and fell in varsity action, 25-19, 25-23 Tuesday.

Hailey Miller led the Wolves with 14 serves and two aces while Malorie Craig led in kills with four.

Grayville was a winner in the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-10.

Charleston handed Cumberland losses in varsity and junior varsity action Tuesday.

The Trojans won the varsity contest, 25-18, 25-13.

The Pirates were led by Tayler McMechan with five assists and two kills, Mackenzie Taylor with two kills, Carly Thornton with two kills, Madison Hendrix and Zoe Mitchell with three blocks each and Ivy Ayers with six digs.

Charleston was a winner in JV action, 25-16, 25-15.
