Teutopolis High School opened the volleyball season by beating Olney in two sets, 25-10, 25-15.

"Nice start to the season," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "The varsity looked really good. The offense hit .500 with 24 kills in 48 attacks. And the serve receive was solid. Olney aced us twice. We did miss seven serves which was too many but we were serving pretty aggressively with a big lead.

"Our defense wasn't really tested. Olney struggled to control the pass so they didn't muster much offensively but we made the plays when we had to."

Kelsey Deters led the Shoes in assists with 17. Erica Michels had 10 kills, one ace and seven points. Carly Michels had three blocks and eight kills. Eve Walker had seven points and two aces.

T-town lost to Olney in junior varsity play, 25-22, 25-20 but claimed a freshman contest, 25-23, 25-13.

The Shoes are back in action tonight at Salem.
