Trinity Lutheran captured the championship of the Effingham St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
In pool play on the West Court, St. Anthony defeated Stewardson-Strasburg, 20-9, 20-11; Holy Cross won over Mason Clark, 20-14, 20-13; Stew-Stras downed Mason Clark, 20-5, 20-5; St. Anthony defeated Holy Cross, 20-14, 20-5; Stew-Stras won over Holy Cross, 20-13, 20-7 and St. Anthony defeated Mason Clark, 20-7, 20-7.
On the East Court, Trinity Lutheran defeated Windsor, 20-5, 20-10; OLOL downed Saunemin, 20-6, 20-8; Trinity Lutheran beat OLOL, 20-14, 20-9; Windsor won over Saunemin, 21-19, 20-18; Trinity Lutheran defeated Saunemin, 21-19, 20-8; Trinity Lutheran downed Saunemin, 20-7, 20-4 and OLOL won over Windsor, 20-8, 20-5.
In championship play, Trinity Lutheran won the title by beating St. Anthony 25-11, 25-10. Third place went to OLOL over Stew-Stras, 20-13, 20-10. Fifth place was captured by Holy Cross over Windsor, 18-20, 20-13, 15-10 and seventh place was claimed by Mason Clark over Saunemin, 20-14, 12-20, 15-8.
At Albion
Effingham captured second place at the Edwards County (Albion) Eighth-Grade Tournament and took third place in the Seventh-Grade Tourney Saturday.
The Mustangs defeated Grayville, 24-26, 25-21, 15-6 in eighth-grade action. Effingham then won over West Salem, 25-17, 22-25, 15-11 to get into the championship match. In the title contest, Massac County came out the winner over Effingham, 25-20, 25-19.
In the seventh-grade tourney, Grayville downed Effingham, 5-25, 25-20, 16-14. Effingham then defeated Massac County, 12-25, 25-14, 15-5. The Mustangs then won over Olney, 26-24, 21-25, 15-10 to finish in third place.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown in both seventh and eighth grade action Friday.
T-town won the seventh-grade match, 25-16, 25-16 to improve to 8-3.
In the eighth-grade contest, the Wooden Shoes were winners, 25-21, 25-17 and now stand at 6-5.
