Effingham High School opened play in its own Class 3A Volleyball Regional with a victory Tuesday evening.
The Hearts handed Paris a loss in two sets, 25-18, 25-17. Kiyah Kuhlman led in kills with nine. Carsyn Fearday had 20 assists.
Jacy Boatman led the team in aces with four and had 11 digs. Natalie Carie had 10 digs. Kuhlman, Fearday, Lexi Chrappa and Carie had one block each.
In the opening contest, Mattoon was a 25-21, 25-22 winner over Troy Triad.
Effingham moves into the championship match against Mattoon at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Class 3A Effingham Regional

Class 1A Dieterich Regional
Effingham St. Anthony will be playing for the Dieterich Regional championship after taking a victory Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs lost the opener to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 29-27 but fought back to take the second set, 25-13 and then won the match, 25-21.
Sydney Gibson had 13 kills while Shea Kinkelaar had 12 and Meg Richards 11. Katie Kabbes led in aces with three. Abby Stock had 35 assists. Sophie Moore scored 12 points while Gibson had 11.
CHBC was led by Lauren Wojcik and Allie Stell with seven kills each. Zaryah Smith had three aces and 18 digs. Katlyn Johnson had 13 assists and 24 digs. Jacque Witteborg had 16 digs. CHBC finished the season with a 12-18 record.
Altamont claimed the opening match over Ramsey in two sets, 25-13, 25-13.
Mette led the way in kills with six. Pemberton had 12 digs. Kuhns led in aces with three and assists with 15. Runge, Jackson and Mayhaus had one block each.
Altamont improves to 21-13 and will now meet St. Anthony at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

Class 1A Hutsonville Regional
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg rolled along in the Class 1A Hutsonville Regional Tuesday evening.
WSS handed Neoga a loss, 25-14, 25-13 and now sports a 30-6 record.
Megan Schlechte led the way in kills with 20. Hannah Hayes had 26 assists. Carson Cole led in digs with 12. Megan Schlechte, Cole, Mackinzee Reynolds, Anna Schlechte, Hayes and Jessica Rauch had one ace each.
Mary Hill led Neoga with eight kills. Aly Easton had five assists. Zoe Meadows led in digs with seven.
In the second match, Bethany Okaw Valley downed Martinsville, 25-22, 25-19.
Windsor/Stew-Stras will now face Bethany Okaw Valley at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.
Class 1A Hutsonville Regional

Class 1A North Clay (Louisville) Regional
Cisne claimed a victory over Clay City in the North Clay Regional Tuesday.
The Runnin' Lions won, 25-21, 25-17.
North Clay (Louisville) then downed St. Elmo/Brownstown. SEB won the opener 25-20 but North Clay came back with 25-21, 25-21 wins for the match.
North Clay advances to face Cisne at 6 p.m .Thursday for the regional championship.
Class 2A Pana Regional
Pana won the first match Tuesday evening in its own regional. The Panthers downed Vandalia, 25-11, 25-11.
In the second contest, Newton won over Shelbyville but had to go three sets.
The Eagles won the opener 25-20 but lost the second set, 25-18. Newton then claimed the match, 25-20.
Probst had 10 kills for the Eagles. Hemrich led in assists with 29 and aces with three. Bierman had four blocks and three aces. Geltz led the Eagles in digs with 13.
Newton improves to 26-9 on the season and will now face Pana at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.
Class 2A Pana Regional

Class 2A Marshall Regional
Top-seeded Teutopolis picked up an easy win over Cumberland in the Marshall Regional Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes went 25-9, 25-17. Emma Deters had two blocks for the Shoes. Carly Michels led in digs with eight and had seven kills. Kate Volk tallied 11 points. Savannah Grimes led in assists with 13 and had three aces.
"Tonight's win was our 25th of the season which breaks last year's record for most wins in a season," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "And, of course, it sends us to the championship match Thursday against Kansas. We have never won a regional in volleyball and this group of seniors would like to change that. We watched Kansas tonight in their match against Robinson so we know we will have to bring our "A" game."
Cumberland was led by Ivy Ayes with 11 digs. Tayler McMechan had seven assists. Maddie Hendrix got four kills and two blocks. Carly Thornton also had two blocks. The Pirates end the season with an 18-14 record.
In the second match, Kansas downed Robinson, 25-14, 25-17.
T-town will now face Kansas at 6 p.m .Thursday for the regional championship.
Class 2A Marshall Regional
