Volleyball Regionals Set to Begin Monday

Volleyball regionals get underway Monday with area teams competing in three different classes.

Effingham St. Anthony, Dieterich, Altamont and Cowden-Herrick will be taking part in the Class 1A Dieterich Regional. Altamont drew the No. 1 seed while St. Anthony is seeded fourth, CHBC sixth and Dieterich 11th.

Competing in the Class 1A North Clay (Louisville) Regional will be the host squad, seeded third, No. 5 St. Elmo/Brownstown and No. 9 South Central.

In the Class 1A Hutsonville Regional, top-seeded Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will take part along with No. 7 Neoga.

The regionals will run Monday, Tuesday and finish with the title contest Thursday.

The winners will advance to the St. Anthony Sectional scheduled for October 29.

In the Class 2A Marshall Regional, Teutopolis drew the No. 1 seed while Cumberland is seeded ninth.

Newton, seeded third, will compete in the Pana Regional.

The winners advance to the Cumberland Sectional October 29.

Effingham will be competing in its own Class 3A Regional. The Hearts are seeded fifth and will face Paris Tuesday at 6:30.
