Effingham St. Anthony hosted a Freshman/Sophomore Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

Newton came out the champion. In opening round play, Newton defeated St. Anthony, 25-16, 25-16 and Teutopolis, 25-12, 21-25, 15-12. T-town downed St. Anthony, 25-20, 25-22 on Court One.

On Court Two, Effingham defeated Dieterich, 25-21, 25-18. Greenville then won over Dieterich, 25-20, 25-19 and beat Effingham, 10-25, 25-21, 15-9.

In the playoff bracket, Effingham won over St. Anthony, 25-20, 25-17 and T-town defeated Dieterich, no scores listed.

Newton beat Effingham, 26-24, 24-26, 15-13 and T-town downed Greenville, 25-20, 26-24.

Newton then won the title by beating Teutopolis, 25-18, 25-16.

 

At St. Elmo

Altamont claimed the championship of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Freshman/Sophomore Tournament Saturday.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg fell to  Altamont, 25-20, 25-22. Altamont then downed Ramsey, 25-18, 25-14.

The Indians won the championship by beating Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 25-16, 25-18.

At Frosh/Soph Tournament
