Altamont, WSS, Newton, T-town Claim Volleyball Wins

Altamont captured a National Trail Conference varsity volleyball win over Effingham St. Anthony Tuesday evening.
The Indians won in two, 25-12, 26-24. Tinley Mette led in kills with six. Grimsley had 10 digs. Kuhns had 11 assists and an ace. Runge had three blocks. Altamont improved to 3-2 in the conference, 12-7 overall.
St. Anthony was led by Abby Stock with 11 assists, Meg Richards with 11 kills and Sophie Moore with eight points.
The Indians also won the junior varsity match 23-25, 25-15, 25-12 to improve to 5-0 in the conference, 9-0 overall. St. Anthony claimed a freshman/sophomore match, 25-18, 25-19.

Effingham fell to Mount Zion in Apollo Conference action Tuesday, 25-18, 27-25.
Jacy Boatman had nine kills for the Hearts. Carsyn Fearday led in assists with 22. Lexi Chrappa had eight digs and two blocks.
The Braves also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-22, 25-28. EHS drops to 10-3.
Mount Zion finished the sweep with a 24-22, 21-19 win in freshman/sophomore play. EHS drops to 3-8-1.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg improved to 6-0 in the National Trail Conference with a 25-12, 25-4 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday evening.
Leading the Hatchets were Mackenzi Tabbert and Mackinzee Reynolds with four aces each, Megan Schlechte with eight kills, Tabbert with 19 assists and Carson Cole with eight digs. WSS improves to 13-3 overall.
CHBC won the junior varsity contest, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20. WSS drops to 9-5.
In exhibition play, Windsor/Stew-Stras won 25-4, 25-18.

Teutopolis handed Dieterich defeats in all three matches Tuesday evening.
The Wooden Shoes won the varsity contest, 25-7, 25-5 to improve to 16-6 on the season.
Emma Deters led the Shoes in blocks with three. Katelyn Jansen and Carly Michels had seven digs each. Savannah Grimes scored 24 points, had four aces and 10 assists. Erica Michels led in kills with nine.
"Everyone is invited to our match Thursday against St. Anthony," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "We are having a special Pink Night fundraiser. All proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald house."
Dieterich was led by Allie Poe with four digs and Emily Bloemer and Jenny Robards with one kill, one assist and one dig each.
T-town won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-21 and the freshman contest, 25-19, 25-8.

Newton improved to 13-4 on the season with a 25-12, 25-8 win over Red Hill (Bridgeport) Tuesday.
Geltz led the Eagles in aces with five and digs with five. Meinhart also had five digs. Bierman led in blocks with two. Hemrich had 14 assists. Probst led in kills with 17.
Newton also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-7, 25-12.
