Altamont, S. Central, WSS, Newton, N. Clay Win in Volleyball

Altamont High school improved to 11-7 on the season with a victory over Ramsey in volleyball action Monday.
The Indians lost the opener 26-24 but came back strong with 25-8, 25-12 wins for the match. Jackman had six kills while Tinley Mette had 10 digs. Kuhns led in aces with seven and assists with 15. Runge had seven blocks.
Altamont also nabbed the junior varsity match 25-17, 25-6 to remain unbeaten at 9-0.

At Cowden
South Central picked up a National Trail Conference win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.
The Cougars won 25-17, 25-19 to improve to 2-5 in the conference, 5-16 overall. CHBC dropped to 8-8 on the season.
Halle Smith had nine points and seven digs while Kelsey Landreth led in kills with six and aces with four. Lauren Lutz had 10 assists.
CHBC was led by Zaryah Smith with four kills and 12 digs, Lauren Wojcik with three aces and Katlyn Johnson with five assists.
CHBC won the junior varsity match 25-21, 25-17.
At Cowden

At Windsor
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a non-conference win over Shelbyville Monday, 25-16, 25-14.
Mackenzi Tabbert and Jessica Rauch had three aces each. Megna Schlechte led in kills with eight. Tabbert had 14 assists. Carson Cole led in digs with 10.
"We had a very aggressive serving night," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "The girls played strong for the most part. Shelbyville always puts up a good game."
The Hatchets won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16 to improve to 9-4.

Newton picked up a victory over Salem in varsity action Monday, 25-12, 25-9.
Hemrich led in assists with 16 and aces with five for the Eagles. Kuhl had five kills. Bierman led in blocks with four and Geltz and Meinhart had six digs each. The Eagles improve to 12-4.
In the junior varsity match, Newton won 25-23, 25-20 and the freshman contest also claimed the victory, 25-12, 25-19.
At Salem

Teutopolis claimed a two-set win over North Clay (Louisville) in action Monday.
The Wooden Shoes won 25-7, 25-17. T-town was led by Savannah Grimes and Hannah Rodgers with six digs each. Eve Walker had two blocks.
T-town is listed in the Top 10 of the Class 2A volleyball chart with a 15-6 record.

The Pirates won 25-17, 25-16. Cumberland improves to 10-5 on the season.
Dieterich was led by Allie Poe with two aces and six digs and Emily Bloemer with two assists and five digs.
Cumberland also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-22.

Patoka came calling and picked up a victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown Monday.
Patoka won the opener 25-18 but BSE came back to take the next set, 25-23. Patoka then won the match 25-18.
Marlee Nolen had six kills for BSE, nine points and three aces. Katelyn Maxey had 12 digs. Natalie Oberlink also had six kills.
