Eighth-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- March 7

Effingham St. Anthony and Effingham both advanced to the championship matches of their respective junior high volleyball regionals Wednesday evening.
In the Class 2A Hutsonville Regional, St. Anthony handed host Hutsonville a loss. The Bullpups won 26-24 before Hutsonville took the second match 25-18. St. Anthony then claimed the victory 25-17.
In the opening match, South Central downed Oblong. South Central won 25-12 before Oblong took the second contest 25-12. South Central then went outat 25-8.
St. Anthony and South Central meet tonight at 6 for the regional championship. The winner heads on to the St. Anthony Sectional Monday.
Class 8-4A Charleston Regional
Effingham moved into the title contest of the Charleston Regional by downing Mount Zion. The Mustangs won in two sets, 25-15, 25-17.
Mattoon claimed the second match over Monticello, 25-20, 25-21.
Effingham will now meet Mattoon for the regional championship today at 4:30. The winner advances to the Effingham Sectional Monday against the winner of the Rantoul Eater Regional.
Class 8-4A Charleston Regional

Class 8-1A Chrisman Scottland Regional
Chrisman Scottland won its own regional championship Wednesday evening.
Chrisman downed Hume Shiloh, 25-21, 25-16 and will now advance to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Monday against either Grayville or West Salem at 6:30 p.m. Those two teams meet tonight for the championship of the West Salem Regional.
