Jr. High Volleyball Results -- Feb. 24

TOLEDO -- Jasper County advanced in the Class 7-3A Cumberland Volleyball Regional Saturday.

Jasper County lost its opener to Robinson Nuttall, 25-18 but came back with 25-23, 26-24 counts for the victory.

Jasper County now faces Casey-Westfield today at 6 p.m. Casey-Westfield downed Lawrenceville Parkview, 25-15, 25-13 Saturday.

In the opening contest, Cumberland will take on Marshall who was a 25-16, 25-10 winner over Paris Mayo, today at 4:30 p.m.

Class 7-3A Cumberland Regional

Jasper County -- Whitaker, 5 aces, 6 assists; Shull, 3 aces, 4 kills, 2 blocks; Utley, 2 aces; Oldham, 1 ace, 7 kills, 1 block, 1 dig; Kirts, 1 ace; Buerster, 1 ace; Dhom, 5 kills; Kocher, 4 assists

Class 1A Chrisman Scottland Regional

Chrisman Scottland defeated Windsor in the opening match, 25-8, 25-10.

In the second contest, Martinsville downed Mattoon St. John's, 25-7, 25-17.

Today's matches will feature Hume Shiloh against Chrisman Scottland at 6 p.m. followed by Stewardson-Strasburg taking on Martinsville, at 7:30.

Class 4A Effingham Regional

Three matches were on tap Saturday in the Effingham Regional.

Mattoon won over Stephen Decatur, 25-4, 25-6. Mount Zion downed Decatur Jefferson, 25-4, 25-6 and Charleston defeated Monticello, 25-22, 25-11.

 Matches Tuesday will have Effingham against Mattoon at 4:30 p.m. followed by Mount Zion taking on Charleston at 6 p.m.
