Newton, W/SS Both Win Supers, Advance to Final Four

Congratulations to the Newton Eagles and the Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Hatchets, who have each advanced to Final Four action at their respective state volleyball tournaments.

Newton won the 2A Super-Sectional at Vandalia, downing Carlinville 25-13, 25-22.

Jill Kistner's crew picked up their 31st win of the season in the process.

Newton will play at noon Friday in state tournament action in Redbird Arena at Illinois State University.

Meanwhile, Coach Ronda Schlechte's Hatchets claimed their 33rd win against six losses, downing Cobden 25-18, 25-10 to claim the South Central Super-Sectional championship in Farina.

W/SS will play Durand at 10:30am Friday at ISU.

Both Newton and Windsor/Stew-Stras will also play next Saturday.
