Newton Captures Hutsonville Volleyball Tourney

HUTSONVILLE -- Newton High School claimed the championship of the Hutsonville Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

The Eagles beat Dugger, 25-9, 25-12 then won over Oblong 25-13, 25-15. Newton beat Lawrenceville 25-11, 25-15.

In the championship match, Newton was a winner over Hutsonville/Palestine, 25-17, 26-24.

Earnest led the Eagles in aces with a total of 15 and tied for the lead in blocks with Bierman with six each. Frohning led in kills with 36 while Hemrich had 41 assists. Geltz had 21 digs.
