Three area teams were competing for championships in the eighth-grade volleyball regionals Thursday but none of the three advanced.
Altamont faced Edwards County (Albion) for the championship of the Class 1A St. Elmo Regional.
Edwards County claimed the victory and title with 25-21, 25-23 counts and advances to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional March 13 to face Paris Crestwood. Altamont ends the season with a 16-8 record.
In the Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional, Jasper County fell to Robinson Nuttall.
Nuttall won in two sets, 25-16, 25-12 and will take on Shelbyville Moulton at 6:30 p.m. March 13 at the Teutopolis Sectional.
Shelbyville Moulton captured the Class 8-3A Arthur Regional title with a victory over Cumberland.
Cumberland fell in two sets, 25-15, 25-22. Moulton now faces Robinson Nuttall at the Teutopolis Sectional.
At the Class 8-4A Mattoon Sectional, Charleston downed host Mattoon 25-22, 25-22. Charleston advances to the Mattoon Sectional March 13 against Champaign Edison at 6:30 p.m.
