Eighth-Grade Regionals -- March 4

GRAYVILLE -- Dieterich competed in the Class 8-1A Grayville Volleyball Regional Saturday.

Dieterich claimed a 25-7, 25-13 win over Newton St. Thomas in the opening match.

Dieterich then fell to Grayville 25-15, 25-7 in the second contest. The third match went to West Salem over Effingham Sacred Hea 25-15, 22-25, 25-13.

Grayville will now face West Salem at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for the regional championship.

Class 1A Grayville Regional

Dieterich vs. Newton St. Thomas -- Bloemer, 11 aces, 1 dig, 7 assists; Boerngen, 5 aces, 1 kill; Hardiek, 5 aces, 2 kills, 1 block; Locey, 3 digs, 3 kills; Poe, 3 aces, 1 dig, 2 kills; Schmidt, 1 assist

Class 81A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Stewardson-Strasburg won its opening contest against Chrisman Scottland. Stew-Stras won the opener 25-17 then fell in the second set 25-17 before winning the match 25-16.

Windsor downed Hume Shiloh in the second match 25-15, 25-18.

Stew-Stras then defeated Martinsville 25-23, 10-25, 25-22 to advance to the championship match.

Sigel St. Michael defeated Windsor 25-17, 25-12 and also advanced to the chammpionship match.

Stew-Stras will face St. Michael at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the regional title.

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

Three matches were contested in the St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional.

North Clay (Louisville) won over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-19, 25-18.

In the second contest, St. Anthony defeated St. Elmo/Browntown 25-15, 25-13.

The final match went to Edwards County (Albion) over Ramsey 25-10, 25-12.

Altamont will face North Clay at 6 p.m. Tuesday while St. Anthony takes on Edwards County at 7.

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

St. Anthony -- Kolwake, 3 aces, 7 assists, 4 points; Sudkamp, 5 points; Boatman, 8 kills, 6 aces, 10 points; Passalacqua, 1 kills; Ritz, 8 kills, 2 aces, 3 points; Petak, 1 kill, 3 aces; Hartke, 1 kill, 1 ace, 6 assists, 3 points

Class 8-2A Paris Crestwood Regional

Oblong opened the Paris Crestwood Regional with a 25-7, 25-20 win over Hutsonville.

The second match went to Oakland Lake Crest over Neoga 25-12, 25-9.

Paris Crestwood then defeated Oblong 25-12, 25-15 and Oakland Lake Crest won over Findlay Okaw Valley 23-25, 25-22, 25-15.

Paris Crestwood will now face Oakland Lake Crest at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the regional championship.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Paris Mayo picked up an opening round win in its own regional 18-25, 25-12, 25-16 over Lawrenceville Parkview.

In the second match, Marshall defeated Casey-Westfield 25-23, 25-18.

Robinson Nuttall takes on Paris Mayo at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by Jasper County facing Marshall at 7.

Class 8-3A Arthur Regional

Arcola ended Teutopolis' season with a 25-22, 25-20 win in the Arthur Regional Saturday. The Wooden Shoes end the season at 11-11.

Cumberland then defeated Sullivan 25-8, 25-8. Tuscola East Prairie won over Arthur 25-16, 25-20.

The regional continues Tuesday with Shelbyville Moulton against Arcola at 6 p.m. followed by Cumberland meeting Tuscola East Prairie at 7.

Class 8-3A Arthur Regional

Teutopolis -- Siemer, 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 block; Rodgers, 4 assists; Niemerg, 4 assists; Johnson, 2 aces, 1 block; Probst, 1 kill; Hewing, 1 assist, 1 kill; Michels, 1 ace, 5 kills

Class 8-4A Mattoon Regional

Danville North Ridge defeated Urbana 25-10, 25-22.

Danville North Ridge advances to face Charelston at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by Effingham taking on Mattoon at around 5:30 p.m.
