Seventh-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- Feb. 25

Grayville and West Salem will be playing for the Class 7-1A Grayville Volleyball Regional championship after victories Saturday.

Dieterich opened the regional with a 25-23, 25-15 win over Newton St. Thomas. That pushed Dieterich into the next match against Grayville. The host squad won 25-7, 25-13 to advance to the title contest.

In the third match of the day, Effingham Sacred Heart fell to West Salem, 25-19, 16-25, 25-17. West Salem will now face Grayville at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for the regional championship.

Class 7-1A Grayville Regional

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

In opening round play, North Clay (Louisville) ended St. Anthony's season with a 25-19, 25-22 victory in the opening match.

In the second contest, Edwards County (Albion) downed Altamont 25-22, 25-10.

The third match went to St. Elmo/Brownstown over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-18, 25-17.

The regional continues today with North Clay against Ramsey at 5:30 followed by St. Elmo/Brownstown taking on Edwards County (Albion) at 6:30.

Class 3A Paris Mayo Regional

Jasper County advanced to second round play at the Paris Mayo Regional. Jasper County defeated Marshall 25-10, 25-9 and will now face host Paris Mayo Tuesday at 6 p.m.

In the second match Saturday, Casey-Westfield downed Lawrenceville Parkview 22-25, 25-11, 25-16. Casey-Westfield now faces Robinson Nuttall at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Two matches were on tap at the Sigel St. Michael Regional and those included Hume Shiloh vs. Martinsville and Stewardson-Strasburg vs. Chrisman Scottland.
