STRASBURG -- Sigel St. Michael claimed the championship of the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

Altamont won its opening match over Stewardson-Strasburg 25-23, 12-25, 15-9. Altamont then downed Windsor 25-17, 25-15 to advance to the title contest.

In the championship, St. Michael defeated Altamont 25-20, 18-25, 15-13.

Altamont is now 14-5 on the season.

Dieterich finished 2-2 at the tourney. Dieterich won its opening contest over St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-22, 25-19.

In the second contest, Sigel St. Michael picked up the win over Dieterich 25-11, 26-24.

Dieterich moved into the consolation championship match with a 25-22, 17-25, 15-10 win over Effingham Sacred Heart.

Dieterich then fell to Stewardson-Strasburg in the consy title match 25-17, 25-17.

No other information was provided on the other matches at the NTC Tournament.

At Charleston

Teutopolis competed in the Charleston Eighth-Grade Tournament Saturday and finished second.

The Wooden Shoes beat Kansas Tri-County 23-25, 25-21, 15-14 then advanced to face Decatur Robertson and won 25-8, 25-11.

T-town fell to Charleston in the title contest 25-23, 25-18. T-town is now 10-7 on the season.

Effingham finished second in the Silver Bracket of the Crossroads Tournament Saturday.

Effingham lost to West Salem 25-17, 25-22. The Mustangs then defeated St. Rose 25-20, 25-19 and won over Edwards County (Albion) 25-20, 23-25, 28-26. Effingham then fell to Trinity Lutheran 25-21, 25-21.
