Effingham Junior High School hosted Altamont in volleyball competition Thursday and captured two victories.
The Mustangs were winners in seventh-grade play 25-13, 25-9 and improved to 15-3 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham claimed a win 25-22, 25-16 and is now at .500 with an 8-8 record.

Stewardson-Strasburg downed St. Elmo/Brownstown in both National Trail Conference matches Thursday evening.
Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest 25-18, 22-25, 25-18.
In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras was a winner 25-15, 25-20.

Jasper County split victories with Charleston in action Thursday evening.
Jasper County was a winner in seventh-grade play. Charleston won the opener 30-28 but Jasper County came back with 25-18, 25-17 counts for the victory. Jasper County improved to 7-10.
In eighth-grade play, Charleston won 25-18, 25-22. Jasper County dropped to 5-10.
