Effingham Sacred Heart captured its own Shamrock Seventh-Grade Volleyball Showdown Saturday.
In the opener Sacred Heart beat Altamont, 25-18, 25-20. The Shamrocks then defeated Mattoon St. John 25-19, 25-21.
Oblong won over Altamont 25-19, 25-21 and beat Mattoon St. John 25-4, 20-25, 15-12. St. John downed Altamont 25-17, 18-25, 15-7.
Sacred Heart then finished out with a 15-25, 25-16, 15-13 win over Oblong.
Altamont won the Shamrock Eighth-Grade Shamrock Showdown. Altamont beat Sacred Heart 25-17, 25-8. Sacred Heart won over Mattoon St. John 25-10, 25-20. Altamont picked up a second victory over Oblong 25-18, 25-12.
Oblong then defeated Mattoon St. John 25-17, 25-21. Altamont beat Mattoon St. John 25-14, 25-7 and Sacred Heart won the final match over Oblong 25-20, 25-10.
Altamont took first followed by Sacred Heart, Oblong and Mattoon St. John.

St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Tournament
Stewardson Trinity captured the championship of the St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Tournament.
Matton took second while St. Anthony finished third.
In opening round matches on the West Court, St. Anthony beat Stew-Stras 15-8, 16-14; Windsor downed Our Lady of Lourdes 15-6, 15-5; Holy Cross won over Stewardson-Strasburg 15-13, 11-15, 17-15 and Mattoon beat Windsor 15-9, 15-11. On the East Court, Mason Clark beat Newton St. Thomas 15-2, 15-10 while St. Anthony won over Holy Cross 15-13, 7-15, 15-9; Mattoon defeated Our Lady of Lourdes 15-8, 15-9 and Trinity Lutheran beat St. Thomas 15-4, 17-15.
In the Gold Flight, Trinity Lutheran defeated St. Anthony 21-16, 21-7; Mattoon won over St. Anthony 21-7, 21-12 and Trinity Lutheran beat Mattoon 21-18, 25-27, 15-13.
In the Silver Flight, Holy Cross beat Mason Clark 25-19, 17-25, 15-12; Windsor won over Holy Cross 21-16, 21-15 and Windsor downed Mason Clark 21-18, 18-21, 15-12.
In the Bronze Flight, Stew-Stras downed St. Thomas 18-21, 21-16, 15-3; Stew-Stras won over Our Lady of Lourdes 11-21, 21-11, 15-13 and Our Lady of Lourdes beat St. Thomas 21-9, 21-15.
In Friday regular season play, St. Anthony beat Neoga in seventh-grade action, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23. In the eighth-grade match, St. Anthony was a winner 25-12, 25-19.

Edwards County (Albion) Tournament
Effingham captured third place in the Edwards County Seventh-Grade Tournament Saturday.
The Mustangs lost to Grayville 25-16, 25-14 before beating Massac County 25-16, 26-24 and West Salem 25-16, 25-14.
In the eighth-grade tournament, Effingham finished fourth. The Mustangs fell to Grayville 25-12, 25-22 then downed West Salem 25-21, 12-25, 25-22. The Mustangs then lost to the host squad 25-23, 25-20.
