Effingham Junior High School played host to Dieterich and handed the visitors two losses in volleyball competition Thursday.
Effingham won the seventh-grade match 25-14, 25-8 to improve to a perfect 8-0 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, the Mustangs won 25-19, 25-15 to improve to 3-5.
Effingham will compete in the Edwards County (Albion) Tournament Saturday.

Effingham St. Anthony and Jasper County split victories Thursday evening.
Jasper County claimed the seventh-grade match 25-14, 25-20.
In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony was the winner 25-21, 25-22.

Stewardson-Strasburg split victories with Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in action Thursday.
CHBC opened the seventh-grade match with a 25-18 win but Stew-Stras came back with 25-16, 25-16 counts for the match victory. Stew-Stras improves to 4-5.
In eighth-grade play, CHBC took the opener 25-15 while Stew-Stras came back to win the second set 25-10. CHBC then nabbed a 26-24 final set for the match. Stew-Stras drops to 3-6.
