STEWARDSON -- Stewardson Trinity Lutheran swept Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high volleyball competition Thursday evening.
Trinity won the seventh-grade match 25-6, 25-9. The Shamrocks drop to 1-1 on the season. Sacred Heart was led in kills by Nina Hakman, Ann Feldhake and Chloe Koester with two each. Madison Goldstein had two assists. Koester led in digs with five.
In eighth-grade play, Trinity picked up a 25-5, 25-8 win. Sacred Heart fell to 1-1. The Shamrocks were led by Grace Karolewicz with two kills, Katie Carie with two assists and Hakman with seven digs.
In a fifth-sixth grade match, Trinity was a winner 25-22, 25-12.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis defeated Mattoon 25-17, 25-22 in seventh-grade action Thursday evening. The Shoes open the season 1-0. Jaden Deters led in aces with six and had one block.
In eighth-grade play, T-town fell to Mattoon 25-19, 18-25, 25-20. T-town drops to 0-1. The Shoes were led by Carly Michels with two aces, three kills and two blocks, Abby Niemerg with four assists, Gracey Koester with two aces and Shelby Siemer with two aces and two blocks.
The Shoes will return to play Monday when they travel to Effingham for 4:30 p.m. contests.
At Teutopolis

At Strasburg
Stewardson-Strasburg picked up two victories over visiting Sullivan Thursday.
Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest 26-24, 25-13 to improve to 1-1 on the season. Natalie Hayes had seven aces and two assists for the winners.
In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras won 25-14, 25-22 and is also 1-1. Stew-Stras was led by Maggie Kelly and Mariah Hoene with five aces each, Hannah Hayes, Megan Nichols and Hoene with five killseach, Hayes and Hoene with four assists each and Mikala Nichols and Grace Rincker with four digs each.
Stew-Stras is back in action Tuesday against Sigel St. Michael.
