EHS Wins Again, Area Volleyball Roundup

Effingham High School picked up its second straight victory by beating Salem in Apollo Conference volleyball play Tuesday evening and the Hearts did it on Senior Night.
The Hearts won 25-18, 25-20 and finished at 4-6 in the conference and is 11-23 overall. Chloe Martin led EHS in kills with four while Sidney Webster led in assists with nine and aces with four. Kourtney Cordes had two blocks. Hannah Pike led in digs with 13.
Seniors include Kaitlyn Baker, Victoria Garren, Abbey Meinhart, Hannah Pike, Riya Shah and Sidney Webster.
In junior varsity action, the Hearts beat Salem 25-17, 25-16 to improve to 12-5.
The freshman/sophomore Hearts also nabbed a victory 25-23, 20-25, 15-5 to improve to 11-6-1.
EHS will finish out regular season play Thursday at Dieterich before competing in the Class 3A Taylorville Regional Monday against Springfield Southeast at 5:30 p.m.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a victory over Tuscola 25-13, 25-18 and now stands at 24-5 on the season.
"Tuscola really put up some good blockers tonight and made us work for every kill," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlecte. "It was very good competition before going into Saturday. Tonight was Senior Night for our lone senior Becca Schlechte. We wish her the best as she continues her volleyball career in college."
Mackenzi Tabbert led the winners in aces with four and kills with seven. Megan Schlechte also had seven kills. Becca Schleche led in assists with 20 and digs with 11.
WSS nabbed the junior varsity contest 24-26, 25-23, 25-20 to improve to 11-7.
The Hatchets fell in freshman/sophomore play 25-16, 25-16 to drop to 5-8-3.

Teutopolis ended the regular season with a loss to Robinson, 25-19, 25-22.
"It was a disappointing ending to the regular season," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "In the first varsity set we made 10 hitting erros. We did a lot of thigns right but we couldnt' put the ball awya. In set two we didn't have any hitting errors and we dominated. Set three was the same as set two until we hit 20 poitns. Seven of Robinson's final eight poitns were out hitting erros. We were up 20-17 when the wheels came off."
Jolene Bueker led the Wodoen Shoes in kills with 10. Svannah Grimes had 13 assists. Julia Frye led in points with nine. Katelyn Jansen had 10 digs. Macy Michels led in blocks with seven.
T-town beat Robisnon in junior varsity play 17-25, 25-21, 25-20 and improves to 22-8. The freshman squad also won 26-24, 17-15.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Patoka picked up two victories each in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Round Robin Tournament Tuesday.
CHBC won over Mulberry Grove 25-19, 25-14 and Ramsey 25-12, 22-25, 25-21. Patoka downed Ramsey 25-22, 25-14 and beat Mulberry Grove 25-16, 25-17.
St. Elmo/Brownstown, CHBC and Patoka all stand at 2-0. Ramsey ends the tourney at 1-3 while Mulberry Grove finishes at 0-4.
The tourney finishes out tonight with St. Elmo/Brownstown taking on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 6, Patoka facing CHBC at 7 and SEB meeting Patoka at 8.
