STRASBURG -- Effingham St. Anthony was the latest Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg victim in volleyball competition Tuesday evening.

WSS won in two games, 25-18, 25-19 to improve to 8-0 in the National Trail Conference, 14-3 overall.

"Tonight was our Pink Night and we would like to thank everyone who came to supoprt it," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "The girls played really well. We are still working on some improvements for this weekend at the Shelby-Pana Invitational where we will see some tough competition."

WSS was led by Becca Schlechte with four aces, seven kills and 14 assists, Megan Schlechte with eight digs and Maria Gentry and M. Schlechte with three block assists each.

St. Anthony was led by Meg Richards with three kills, Marci Mills with two blocks and two aces and Hannah Will with 10 digs and two aces and Mills with two aces.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity match 25-22, 22-25, 28-26. WSS drops to 8-7.

At Strasburg

Effingham claimed an Apollo Conference victory over Charleston, 25-19, 25-14.

The Hearts were led by Kaitlyn Baker and Chloe Martin with four kills each, Sidney Webster with eight assists, Baker with four aces and Victoria Garren with eight digs.

The Hearts are 3-3 in the conference, 4-14 overall.

 EHS also claimed the junior varsity match 20-25, 25-17, 25-22 to improve to 7-5. The two squads split freshman/sophomore wins. Charleston won the opener 25-23 and EHS claimed the second set 25-18.

Kacie Crain led in points with 10 and digs with 13. Emily Chapman had seven kills. Kendall Burleyson led in assists with nine.

The Cougars also claimed the junior varsity match 25-9, 25-14 and is 10-1.

At Altamont

Altamont picked up a National Trail Conference win over St. Elmo/Brownstown.  Altamont claimed the win in two sets 25-22, 25-20 to improve to 4-4 in the NTC and 10-10 overall.

Altamont was led by Mette with eight kills, Grimsley with 15 digs, Mayhaus with five aces and three blocks and H. Paquette with 10 assists.

Elisse Barron and Dana Shelton led in kills with four each for the winners. Marlee Nolen had two aces. Tessa Philpot led in digs with 12. Dana Shelton had five points.

In junior varsity play, Altamont was a winner St. Elmo/Brownstown won 20-25, 25-21, 27-25. Altamont drops to 4-4 in the conference, 6-6 overall.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Ramsey 25-17, 25-15.

CHBC was led by Felicia Johnson with four aces, five kills and six digs, Kara Clearwater with two blocks and Sarah Kirchhofer with eight assists. CHBC is now 4-18 on the season.

In junior varsity play, CHBC won 25-9, 25-10.

At Cowden

Newton easily handled Flora 25-20, 25-15 to improve to 22-2 on the season.

Cohorst and Frohning had one ace each. Frohning led in kills with seven and Cohorst led in digs with seven. Hartrich had 14 assists. Smith and Frohning had two blocks each.

In the junior varsity match, the Eagles won 25-16, 25-21.

At Flora

North Clay (Louisville) picked up a victory over Wayne City 25-18, 25-13.

The Cardinals were led by Audrey Fleener, Cally Holste, Taylor Jones and Mackenzie Rinehart with one kill each. Darcy Fender had four digs. Bailey Waters led in aces with two.

The junior varsity squad also won 25-13, 25-7.
