TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School played host to Effingham St. Anthony and claimed both junior varsity and varsity volleyball victories Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won the varsity contest 25-21, 25-23 to improve to 12-8 on the season.

"The varsity won its third in a row tonight," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "The blockers set the stage early by stuffing the St. Anthony hitters on the first three attacks. Overall we did a great job of controlling the net.

"Macy Michels and Julia Frye combined for nine blocks and our rightside blockers chipped in five more. We also had 38 digs which is a big improvement for us. We've struggled wtih digging balls that got around or through our blockers but tonight our diggers did a great job of reading off the blockers and filling the hitting lanes. The offense was solid. I thought our setters distributed the balls really well, five hitters had four or more kills."

Jolene Bueker led in digs with 11. Macy Michels had five blocks and nine points. Savannah Grimes had 14 assists and six kills.

The Bulldogs were led by Jenna Woltman with nine digs and 11 assists. Hannh Will, Katie Kabbes and Marci Mills had three kills each. Mills led in blocks with three. Meg Richards had three aces.
