Effingham St. Anthony played host to Brownstown/St. Elmo in National Trail Conference volleyball play and captured a victory, 25-16, 25-19 Tuesday evening.
Marci Mills had nine kills for the Bulldogs along with 16 digs. Meg Richards had one blocked shot.

Mattoon came calling and claimed a 25-9, 25-13 win over Effingham in Apollo Conference action Tuesday.
The Hearts drop to 1-1 in the conference, 2-13 overall.
Kaitlyn Baker, Hannah Pike, Sidney Webster and Kourtney Cordes had two kills each. Webster and Aly Armstrong had four assists each. Victoria Garren led in aces with two. Armstrong had six digs.
Mattoon also won the junior varsity match 21-25, 25-8, 26-24. EHS drops to 4-4 and took the freshman/sophomore match 26-24, 25-16.

Newton notched another opponent under the win column by downing Cumberland 25-15, 25-12. The Eagles are now 17-2 on the season.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 25-19, 25-9 win over Neoga to improve to 5-0 in the National Trail Conference, 10-3 overall.
"Tonight we really had to work through the heat on top of illnesses," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Set one was rough but we were able to bounce back and take set two with only a few errors. The girls did what they needed to do."
Mackenzi Tabbert led in aces with four and had five digs. Becca Schlechte had 16 assists and five digs. Megan Schlechte led in kills with seven. Carson Cole had five digs. Claire Moomaw had one solo block.

The Indians improve to 2-3 in the conference, 5-7 overall. CHBC dropped to 1-14 overall. Mayhaus led Altamont in kills with six. H. Paquette had nine assists. Grimsley had 14 digs. Hoene led in aces with five.
CHBC was led by Kara Clearwater with two aces. Sarah Kirchhofer had two kills. Emma Wehrle and Felicia Johnson had six digs each.
CHBC won the junior varsity match 27-25, 11-25, 25-14. Altamont drops to 3-2 in the conference, 4-4 overall. CHBC also took a fresh/sophomore match 19-15, 25-19, 15-6.
