Lexington Henry Clay Claims Crossroads Classic Crown

Lexington Henry Clay High School captured the championship of the Nike Crossroads Classic Volleyball Tournament during the weekend in Effingham.

Lexington Henry Clay downed Wheaton St. Francis 25-16, 25-20 in the title contest in Gold Flight Saturday.

Third place went to Festus St. Pius over Naperville Central 25-10, 30-28. Glenbard West finished fifth with a 25-22, 13-25, 25-23 win over Greenwood Center Grove. Seventh place was taken by Hermann over Illiana Christian 25-22, 25-18.

In Silver Flight, Belleville Althoff was the champion over Bloomington 25-21, 25-10. St. Louis Ursuline beat Indianapolis Chatard 25-19, 22-25, 15-8 for third place. Fifth place went to Moline over Libertyville 25-15, 26-24 and seventh place was claimed by Hermann over Illiana Christian 25-22, 25-18.

In the Bronze Flight, Normal University won the championship over Breese Central 25-19, 25-12. Third place went to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg over Mattoon 25-18, 25-17. Fifth place was taken by Daviess County over Champaign Centennial 25-19, 25-12. Owensboro Catholic won seventh place over Effingham 25-11, 25-17.
