CHBC Nabs Volleyball Victory, Area Roundup

COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City High School handed Okaw Valley a volleyball defeat in two sets Monday evening.

CHBC won the opener 25-17 then came back to take the match 25-20. Emma Wehrle led in kills with six and digs with four. Skylar Morrison had seven assists and two aces. Sarah Kirchhofer led in blocks with two and had six assists. Kara Clearwater had six kills.

Okaw Valley won the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-13.

At Cowden

Oblong came calling and took home a victory 25-7, 26-24 over host Dieterich Monday. Dieterich drops to 1-1 on the season.

Lauren Garbe led the Movin' Maroons in kills with four and aces with two. Hannah Hunzinger had seven assists and two digs. Sydnie Vahling had two digs and two blocks. Madeline Aherin had two digs.

Oblong won the junior varsity match 25-17, 25-13.

Woodlawn tallied a victory over South Central 27-25, 27-25. The Cougars drop to 1-1 on the season.

South Central was led by Kendall Burleyson with nine points and four aces. She also finished with 10 assists. Serena Germany and Emily Chapman had four kills each. Keely Smith had two stuff blocks.

South Central won the junior varsity contest 25-23, 25-17 to improve to 2-0. Serina Lee had seven points. In a freshman/sophomore match, the Cougars won in three sets. Olivia Snider had eight points.
