NEOGA -- Effingham Sacred Heart captured the championship of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
The Shamrocks beat St. Elmo/Brownstown 25-15, 25-18 and Sigel St. Michael 25-15, 25-22. Sacred Heart then downed Stewardson-Strasburg 9-25, 25-20, 15-12 for the title.
Altamont finished fourth. Altamont opened with a victory over Windsor, 25-13, 25-7. The Wildcats then faced top-seeded Stewardson-Strasburg and fell 25-20, 25-12.
That dropped Altamont into the consolation championship match against Sigel St. Michael and the Sharpshooters won 25-21, 25-21.
Altamont is now 8-6 on the season.
No other statistics or scores were turned in for the other NTC Tourney matches.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis split victories Friday in regular season action.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade match 25-17, 14-25, 28-26. In eighth-grade play, T-town was the winner 25-20, 25-17.
Teutopolis then competed in the Charleston Seventh-Grade Tournament Saturday and picked up one win and two losses.
The Shoes fell to Tri-County in the opener 25-18, 25-13. T-town then dropped a match to Charleston 25-10, 25-10. The Shoes then won over Decatur Robertson 25-15, 25-19.
T-town is now 7-7 on the season.
