Effingham Sacred Heart captured the championship of its own Shamrock Volleyball Showdown Saturday in both seventh and eighth grade. play.
Sacred Heart took the seventh-grade tournament followed by Altamont, Sigel St. Michael and St. John.

St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Tournament
Stewardson Trinity Lutheran claimed the championship of the St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
In Pool A were St. Anthony, Stewardson-Strasburg, Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes and Champaign Holy Cross.
In pool play, Stew-Stras beat St. Anthony, 25-19, 25-22; Holy Cross beat Our Lady of Lourdes, 25-14, 25-10; Stew-Stras beat Our Lady of Lourdes, 25-15, 25-17; Holy Cross beat St. Anthony, 25-10, 25-8; Holy Cross beat Stew-Stras, 25-20, 25-12 and St. Anthony beat Our Lady of Lourdes, 25-27, 25-23, 15-11.
Holy Cross won pool play with a 3-0 record followed by Stew-Stras 2-1, St. Anthony 1-2 and Our Lady of Lourdes 0-3.
In Pool B were Newton St. Thomas, North Clay (Louisville), Stewardson Trinity Lutheran and Windsor.
In pool play, St. Thomas beat North Clay, 25-12, 25-15; Trinity Lutheran beat Windsor, 25-11, 25-12; Trinity Lutheran beat St. Thomas, 25-15, 17-25, 15-13; Windsor beat North Clay, 25-9, 25-10; Trinty Lutheran beat North Clay, 25-7, 25-15 and St. Thomas beat Windsor, 25-14, 25-22.
Trinity Lutheran won pool play with a 3-0 record followed by St. Thomas 2-1, Windsor 1-2 and North Clay 0-3.
The championship match went to Trinity Lutheran over Holy Cross, 25-10, 25-19. Third place went to St. Thomas over Stew-Stras, 25-19, 25-23.
Fifth place went to Windsor over St. Anthony, 26-24, 24-26, 24-12. The seventh place match went to Our Lady of Lourdes over North Clay, 25-22, 27-25.
Edwards County (Albion) Tournament
Effingham captured third place at the Edwards County (Albion) Seventh and Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournaments Saturday.
In seventh-grade action, Effingham fell to Edwards County 25-12, 25-19. EJHS then lost to Grayville, 25-20, 25-15. The Mustangs then beat Massac County 26-24, 25-18.
In eighth-grade play, Effingham took third. The Mustangs fell to Grayville 25-14, 25-8 then won over Massac County 25-22, 25-16. EJSH then lost to Edwards County 19-25, 25-22, 25-19.
