Charleston came calling and handed Teutopolis two defeats in junior high school volleyball competition Tuesday.

Charleston won the seventh-grade match 25-14, 25-18. T-town falls to 4-5 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, Charleston lost the opener 25-23 but came back with 25-15, 25-21 counts. The Shoes drop to 4-5.

Teutopolis -- Siemer, 1 ace, 1 block; Vahling, 1 kill; Michels, 2 aces, 4 kills; NIemerg, 7 assists, 1 kill

At Dieterich

Altamont and Dieterich split victories Tuesday evening.

Altamont won the seventh-grade contest 25-20, 20-25, 25-20 to improve to 3-1 in the National Trail Conference, 3-3 overall. Dieterich drops to 1-8 overall.

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich was the winner 25-22, 25-18 and improved to 3-6. Altamont drops to 0-4 in the conference, 0-6 overall.

Jasper County picked up two victories over Cumberland.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade match 25-15, 15-25, 25-18. In eighth-grade play, Jasper County picked up the wins 25-22, 25-19.

Effingham St. Anthony captured the eighth-grade match over North Clay (Louisville) with 25-22, 25-17 victories.

In seventh-grade play, St. Anthony won the opener 25-10 while North Clay took the second set 25-22. The final set was listed as 25-25 on the scoresheet.
