ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a National Trail Conference victory over Altamont in volleyball competition Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won 29-27 and 25-16. Raven Rinker led in digs with seven. Isabel Moore led in assists with 17 and blocks with two. Marci Mills picked up six kills and had two blocks. Aly Esker and Hannah Will had two aces each.

Altamont was led by Laatsch with seven kills, Duckwitz with six assists and Wharton with six digs. The Indians drop to 1-4 in the conference, 7-10 overall.

Altamont defeated St. Anthony in junior varsity action, 25-20, 25-17. St. Anthony won the freshman/sophomore match 25-20, 25-18.

At Effingham

Effingham handed Taylorville a 26-24, 25-22 loss Tuesday. Shelby Nunamaker had 11 kills and two blocks for the Hearts. Hannah Pike led in assists with eight while Chandler Ramey led in digs with 11.

In the junior varsity match, Effingham lost the opener 25-19 but came back 25-19, 25-21 for the victory. The Hearts also claimed the freshman/sophomore match 25-10, 25-16.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg continues to roll along in the National Trail Conference. The Hatchets beat Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-14, 25-21 to improve to 6-0 in the conference, 11-4 overall.

"We worked some new positions tonight so it took some adjustments," said WSS Coach Rhonda Schlechte. "We are still working on consistency and trying to get comfortable out there."

Kenzi Tabbert led the winners in aces with four and assists with eight. Megan Schlechte had nine kills while Carson Cole had eight digs.

CHBC was led by Felicia Johnson with 12 digs, two blocks and two kills, Kara Clearwater had two blocks and Leah Kelly two kills. Skylar Morrison had four assists.

In a junior varsity contest, WSS won 25-16, 25-12 to improve to 9-1. The freshman/sophomore match also went to the Hatchets 25-15, 25-9. They improve to 7-2-1.

At Dieterich

Teutopolis defeated Dieterich in varsity competition 25-17, 25-17 for its sixth straight victory.

"The offense has been improving steadily with each match, mostly because the passing has improved with each match," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "Daniellel Repking has been solid all season. She covers the floor very well and her passing was really sharp again tonight. The defense is still a work in progress. Our blockers weren't as good tonight but eight different players recorded digs."

Savannah Grimes had 11 points, three aces and 14 assists for the winners. Kayla Kroeger led in kills with 11. Danielle Repking had nine digs.

Dieterich was led by Mikayla Winters with five digs and five kills. Hannah Hunzinger had five digs and four assists. Faith Boerngen had four assists.

T-town also nabbed a junior vasrity match 26-24, 25-15.

Newton improved its record to 18-4 on the season with a 25-2, 25-6 win over Red Hill (Bridgeport).

Kline led in aces with six while Johnson had seven kills and one block. Hartrich led in assists with 13.

The Eagles also claimed a junior varsity win, 25-4, 25-10.

Broadlands Heritage picked up a victory over Cumberland. The Pirates won the opener 25-20 but Heritage came back with 25-16, 25-23 victories.

Lainey Jackson led Cumberland in kills with six, aces with three and assists with eight. Maekayla Sowers led in blocks with four. Sadie Oakley and Claire Guyon had 17 assists each. The Pirates drop to 4-11.

Cumberland won the junior varsity match 25-23, 25-15.
