South Central Fourth At Herrin VB Tourney

HERRIN -- South Central High School captured fourth place in the Herrin Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
The Cougars opened with three straight victories over Carterville, 28-29, 25-20, 15-12; Steeleville 25-14, 25-20 and Galatia, 25-20, 25-12.
South Central then fell to New Athens 21-25, 25-9, 15-6 and lost to Marion 25-18, 21-25, 15-10 to take fourth in the 16-team meet. Emily Chapman was selected on the All-Tournament Team.

At Mulberry Grove
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City nabbed a victory over Mulberry Grove in Egyptian-Illini Conference play Friday.
CHBC took the opener 25-18 and came back with a 25-14 victory. Leah Kelly lead the winners in kills with nine. Kallie Clearwater had 10 digs. Skylar Morrison led in assists with 18. Felicia Johnson had seven aces.
In junior varsity action, CHBC lost to Mulberry Grove 25-23, 25-14.
