Effingham St. Anthony played host to Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick and picked up victories at the Enlow Center Tuesday in volleyball competition.

The Bulldogs won the varsity match 25-10, 25-13. Taylor Dammerman led the Bulldogs in digs with 14. Jenna Woltman had 18 assists. Isabel Moore led in the kill department with seven. Marci Mills had four blocks and three aces.

In junior varsity play, the Bulldogs were winners 25-23, 25-23 and also claimed freshman/sophomore wins 25-8, 25-12, 25-14.

At St. Anthony

At Newton

Newton High School captured up a varsity win over Charleston 25-19, 25-22 to improve to 9-3 on the season.

Kline and Johnson had two aces each for the Eagles. Johnson and Cohorst led in kills with seven each. Johnson also led in digs with eight. Kline led in blocks with two. Hartrich had 16 asssits. 

Newton also took the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-19 but split in freshman split, winning 26-24 but losing 25-22.

Dieterich's varsity picked up a non-conference win over Ramsey, 25-13, 25-13 to improve to 4-3.

Mikayla Winters led in aces with eight. Lauren Garbe had seven kills. Hannah Hunzinger led in assists with 11.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg hosted Teutopolis and sent the Wooden Shoes home with a 25-21, 25-20 defeat. WSS is now 2-0 in the National Trail Conference, 7-3 overall.

"I thought after ending on such a good note Saturday, we would have played better tonight," said WSS Coach Rhonda Schlechte. "We played to stay ahead instead of playing to win. We stayed out of system a lot and missed several serves. Hopefully they can pull it together for Thursday."

"We lost our third straight match but it wasn't from lack of effort," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "I was pleased with the overall play. We cut down on our unforced errors and our offense gave a very good Stew-Stras team all it could handle. In the end, Stew-Stras won a closely contested match."

In junior varsity play, Windsor/Stew-Stras won 14-25, 25-13, 25-20. WSS also won the freshman/sophomore match 26-24, 25-19.
