TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham High School moved its volleyball record to 4-4 on the season by downing Teutopolis in two sets, 25-17, 25-19 Monday evening.

Jennifer Fred, Chandler Ramey and Shelby Nunamaker were the leaders in kills for the Hearts with six each. Sidney Webster had 16 assists and two aces. Chloe Martin, Nunamaker and Ramey had three blocks each. Ramey led in digs with eight.

"At each level we struggled with our passing," said T-town  Coach Tim Mills. "We didn't fare much better against the Effingham servers. Our passes didn't get to the front court and that kept our offense from getting in sync. While we kept the score close, we never led in either set and couldn't sustain any rallies."

The Hearts also nabbed the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-17 to improve to 2-1 and a freshman/sophomore contest 25-23, 25-21 to improve to 3-0.
