Newton Claims Hutsonville Volleyball Invitational Title

HUTSONVILLE -- Newton High School claimed the championship of the Hutsonville Volleyball Invitational Saturday with a 4-0 record.

The Eagles defeated Marshall 25-15, 25-15, then won over Oblong 25-12, 25-9. Robinson won the opening game 25-17 but Newton came back with 25-17, 25-15 wins. Newton then defeated Bement 25-19, 25-21 for the championship.

Kline was the attack leader for the Eagles with 22. Hemrich totaled seven blocks. Pilman led in aces for the tourney with 10. Hartrich had a total of 65 assists. Johnson had 27 digs.
