Seventh-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- Feb. 28

MATTOON -- Effingham Junior High School advanced in the Class 7-4A Mattoon Volleyball Regional Saturday.

The Mustangs defeated Danville South View 25-7, 25-14. The Mustangs advance to face Tolono Unity tonight at 6:30.

In the opening match Saturday, Mattoon lost its opener 25-23 but came back with 25-9, 25-17 scores to beat Danville North Ridge.

Mattoon will now face Charleston at 5 p.m. today. The winners of today's contests advance to the regional championship match Tuesday at 6 p.m.

At Effingham

In the Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional Saturday, Dieterich picked up a victory over Oblong 25-9, 25-21.

But Dieterich then fell to Edwards County (Albion) 25-13, 25-8. In the third match, St. Anthony saw its season come to a close with a loss to Hutsonville, 25-3, 25-8.

Edwards County and Hutsonville advance to the regional championship tonight at 6 p.m.

At Paris

Neoga and Oakland Lake Crest captured opening round victcories in the Class 7-2A Paris Crestwood Regional Saturday.

Oakland Lake Crest won the first match over Findlay Okaw Valley 25-18, 26-24.

In the second match, Neoga was a 25-12, 25-18 winner over Arcola.

Oakland Lake Crest will face Paris Crestwood at 6 p.m. today followed by Neoga taking on Villa Grove at 6:45 p.m.
